Longitudinal studies are research methods that involve repeated observations of the same variables (e.g., people) over long periods of time, often many decades.

Analogy

Think of a longitudinal study like filming a documentary about a person's life. You're capturing the same individual's experiences and changes over an extended period, from childhood to adulthood.
