Instinct Theory (evolutionary)

Definition

This theory suggests that all organisms are born with innate biological tendencies that help them survive. These instincts drive the behavior of individuals.

Analogy

Think of it like a bird building a nest. No one teaches the bird how to do this, yet it instinctively knows how to build a nest when it's time to lay eggs. It's an inborn pattern of behavior that is universally present in the species.

Related terms
