Fixation

Definition

In psychology, fixation refers to an obsessive interest or feeling about someone or something. It can also refer to the inability to see a problem from a new perspective; by employing a different mental set.

Analogy

Imagine you're trying to solve a maze puzzle and you keep going down the same wrong path over and over again because you're fixated on it being the right way. That's what psychological fixation is like - not being able to change your approach or view on something.
