Definition
These are rules set by professional organizations that govern the conduct of its members and provide a framework for ethical decision making.
Analogy
Think of ethical guidelines as the rulebook for a board game. Just like how you can't cheat or make up your own rules in a game, psychologists must follow these guidelines to ensure they're treating their subjects fairly and ethically.
