Definition

The chameleon effect refers to our natural tendency to unconsciously mimic others' postures, gestures, facial expressions, and behaviors within social contexts.

Analogy

Just like a chameleon changes its color to match its surroundings, we often change our behavior or body language to match those around us without even realizing it.
