The brainstem is the lower part of the brain that connects it with the spinal cord. It controls many basic functions such as heart rate, breathing, sleeping, and eating.
The brainstem is like your home's power supply box - it controls all essential services without which your house cannot function properly.
Medulla Oblongata: Part of the brainstem responsible for regulating vital functions such as heartbeat and respiration. It’s akin to circuit breakers controlling electricity flow in different parts of your house.
Pons: Another part of the brainstem involved in motor control and sensory analysis; much like switches controlling lights or appliances at home.
Reticular Formation: A nerve network within the brainstem that regulates sleep-wake cycles and consciousness – similar to an alarm clock or timer switch.
