Definition

Belief perseverance is the tendency to maintain one's beliefs even after they have been discredited by factual information.

Analogy

Belief perseverance is like refusing to take off those old worn-out shoes even though you've been given new ones. You stick to the old shoes (beliefs) despite having new, better options (factual information).
