Definition
Basic research is a type of scientific study aimed at expanding knowledge and understanding fundamental concepts. It's not necessarily intended for immediate, practical application.
Analogy
Think of basic research like exploring a new city without a specific destination in mind. You're just wandering around to learn more about the city, its culture, architecture, etc., not necessarily looking for a particular restaurant or shop.
