An axon is the long threadlike part of a nerve cell along which impulses are conducted from the cell body to other cells.
Imagine an axon as the highway system connecting different cities (other neurons). Cars (nerve impulses) travel along this highway delivering important information and goods from one city to another.
Dendrite: Branch-like structures on neurons that receive messages from other neurons and transmit them towards the cell body.
Myelin Sheath: Fatty covering around the axon of some neurons that speeds neural impulses.
Synapse: The junction between two neurons where communication occurs.
