Adrenaline (also known as epinephrine) is a hormone released into the bloodstream in response to physical or mental stress like fear or injury.

Analogy

Adrenaline is like your body's emergency alarm system. When you're in danger, it sounds the alarm, preparing your body for action by increasing heart rate, blood pressure and energy supplies (the fight-or-flight response).
