Definition

The range of the projectile is the horizontal distance covered by an object in projectile motion, from its initial position to where it lands.

Analogy

Imagine shooting a basketball towards a hoop. The range is like the distance between you and the hoop when the ball finally goes through the net. It's how far horizontally the ball traveled before hitting its target.
