Quantum Mechanics

Definition

Quantum mechanics is a branch of physics that deals with the behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic level, where classical physics fails to explain their properties accurately.

Analogy

Imagine you have a box full of marbles. In classical physics, you can predict exactly where each marble will be. But in quantum mechanics, it's like having a box full of invisible marbles that can be in multiple places at once until observed.

Related terms

Wave-particle duality: The concept that particles can exhibit both wave-like and particle-like behavior.

Superposition: The ability of quantum systems to exist in multiple states simultaneously.

Entanglement: A phenomenon where two or more particles become correlated in such a way that their states are linked, regardless of the distance between them.
