An open system is a physical system that can both exchange matter and energy with its surroundings.
Think of an aquarium where fish swim freely. Water flows in and out of the tank, allowing for exchanges between the fish and their environment.
Energy Transfer: The movement of energy from one place to another within an open system.
Mass Flow Rate: The amount of mass passing through a given area per unit time in an open system.
Entropy: A measure of disorder or randomness in an open system.
