Definition

A neutron is a subatomic particle that has no charge and is found in the nucleus of an atom.

Analogy

Neutrons can be thought of as neutral referees inside an atomic football game. They don't take sides or contribute to scoring, but they help maintain stability by keeping protons from repelling each other due to their positive charges.
