Gamma rays are high-energy electromagnetic waves that are emitted from the nucleus of an atom during radioactive decay.

Analogy

Think of gamma rays as powerful laser beams used in futuristic sci-fi movies. They can penetrate through solid objects and have the ability to cause damage if not properly shielded against.
