Negative Charge

Definition

A negative charge refers to an excess of electrons on an object, resulting in an overall negative electrical charge.

Analogy

Imagine a group of friends planning a trip. If one friend cancels at the last minute, leaving everyone else disappointed and frustrated, that friend can be seen as having a negative impact on the group's plans. Similarly, when an object has a negative charge, it has an excess of electrons that can disrupt the balance of electrical forces.
