Electrostatic Force

Definition

Electrostatic force refers to the attraction or repulsion between electrically charged objects due to their electric charges.

Analogy

Picture electrostatic force as two magnets either attracting or repelling each other based on their polarities. Just like how opposite poles attract and similar poles repel, charged objects behave similarly.

Related terms

Coulomb's Law: A mathematical equation that describes the magnitude and direction of electrostatic forces between two charged objects.

Conservation of Charge: The principle stating that electric charge cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be transferred from one object to another.
