Compression

Definition

Compression refers to applying pressure or squeezing something together, resulting in a decrease in volume or size.

Picture compression like squishing a sponge. When you squeeze it tightly, its volume decreases as air gets pushed out from between its pores.

Tension: Tension is the opposite of compression and refers to stretching or pulling something apart.

Elasticity: Elasticity describes how well an object returns to its original shape after being compressed or stretched.

Deformation: Deformation refers to a change in the shape or size of an object due to external forces.
