Ampere

Definition

Ampere is the unit of electric current in the International System of Units (SI). It measures the rate at which electric charge flows through a conductor.

Analogy

Think of electric current like a river flowing through a pipe. The ampere is like measuring how much water is flowing through the pipe per second.

Related terms

Voltage: Voltage is the potential difference between two points in an electrical circuit, measured in volts.

Resistance: Resistance is the opposition to the flow of electric current in a circuit, measured in ohms.

Ohm's Law: Ohm's Law states that the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the voltage across it and inversely proportional to its resistance.
