Definition

Triads are three-note chords consisting of a root, a third, and a fifth. They form the foundation of harmony in music.

Analogy

Think of triads as the building blocks of music. Just like how you need three ingredients to make a basic sandwich (bread, meat, and cheese), you need three notes to create a triad.
