Subdominant Chords

Definition

Subdominant chords are the chords built on the fourth scale degree of a key. They provide a sense of stability and act as a bridge between the tonic and dominant chords.

Analogy

Think of subdominant chords as the "supporting characters" in a story. Just like how supporting characters enhance the main plot, subdominant chords add depth and richness to a musical composition.
