Scales are a series of notes arranged in ascending or descending order, usually within an octave. They provide the foundation for melodies and harmonies in music.
Think of scales as a set of building blocks for creating musical compositions. Just like how you can use different shapes and sizes of building blocks to construct various structures, musicians use different scales to create different moods and styles in their music.
Key Signature: A key signature is a group of sharps or flats placed at the beginning of a staff to indicate the tonality (key) of a piece. It tells musicians which notes should be raised or lowered throughout the composition.
Major Scale: The major scale is one of the most commonly used scales in Western music. It has a happy and uplifting sound, often associated with joyful melodies.
Minor Scale: The minor scale has a more melancholic and somber sound compared to the major scale. It is often used to convey sadness or introspection in music.
