Definition

Risorgimento refers to the period of Italian history during which several states on the Italian Peninsula united to form the Kingdom of Italy. It was a movement for Italian unification and independence from foreign rule.

Think of Risorgimento as a puzzle where different pieces representing various Italian states come together to form a complete picture of Italy.
