Topographic data refers to information about the physical features and elevations of an area. It can show hills, valleys, slopes, bodies of water etc., often represented on a map with contour lines.
Think of topographic data like the frosting on a 3D cake. The frosting represents different elevations and physical features - peaks, valleys, slopes etc., giving you an idea of how the 'landscape' of the cake changes.
Contour Lines: These are lines drawn on a map connecting points of equal elevation.
Digital Elevation Model (DEM): A 3D representation of a terrain's surface created from terrain elevation data.
Relief: The variation in elevation across an area of Earth's surface.
