Topographic Barriers

Definition

These are physical features of the land, such as mountains, rivers, or bodies of water that create a barrier to human movement and interaction.

Analogy

Think of topographic barriers like walls in a maze. Just as these walls prevent you from moving freely through the maze, topographic barriers can limit where humans can travel or settle.
