Definition

Global birth rates refer to the number of live births per 1,000 people per year on a global scale.

Analogy

Imagine you're baking cookies for an international cookie festival. Each batch you make represents 1,000 cookies (or people). The number of chocolate chip cookies (or newborns) you add each time is like the global birth rate.
