Gender Inequality Index (GII): A measurement that reflects women’s disadvantage in three dimensions—reproductive health, empowerment and economic status—for as many countries as data of reasonable quality allow.
Patriarchy: A social system in which males hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property.
Feminization of Poverty: The phenomenon that women represent disproportionate percentages of the world's poor.
