Environmental catastrophes are severe events caused by environmental factors that cause significant harm to people and/or the natural world. These can include natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, or man-made disasters like oil spills.
An environmental catastrophe is like a massive wrecking ball smashing into a building. It causes extensive damage and it takes a lot of time, effort, and resources to recover from it.
Natural Disasters: These are catastrophic events with atmospheric, geological, and hydrological origins (e.g., droughts, earthquakes, floods).
Anthropogenic Disasters: These are disasters resulting from human activity such as industrial accidents or war.
Climate Change: This refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. The term often refers specifically to human-induced changes which increase the likelihood of certain types of disasters.
