This refers to having more votes than any other candidate but not necessarily majority (over half) of total votes casted.
Imagine you're in a pizza party where everyone votes for their favorite topping. If pepperoni gets 7 votes, cheese gets 5, and sausage gets 4, pepperoni wins by plurality - it has more votes than any other option but not more than half of all the votes.
Majority: A term referring to receiving over half of the total votes casted.
First-Past-The-Post: An electoral system where the candidate with the most votes (plurality) in a district wins the seat.
Runoff Election: A further election held when no candidate achieves a majority. The top two candidates from the first round face off again to determine a winner.
