Party-line voting occurs when an individual votes for candidates across all positions who belong to his/her own party.
Party-line voting is like going shopping with brand loyalty; you choose products based on the brand name, not necessarily the individual product's features.
Partisan: A strong supporter of a specific party, cause, or person. Partisans often engage in party-line voting.
Political Polarization: The divergence of political attitudes to ideological extremes. High polarization can lead to more party-line voting.
Straight Ticket Voting: The practice of voting for every candidate that a political party has on a general election ballot. This is essentially another term for party-line voting.
