In politics, the opposition refers to a political party or group that is not currently in power but is working against the ruling party's policies and actions.
Think of a soccer match where one team has possession of the ball (the ruling party), while the other team (the opposition) tries to intercept, block passes, and score goals.
Minority Party: This is a political party that does not have majority control within a legislative body. They often form part of the opposition.
Shadow Government: In parliamentary systems, this refers to senior members of the opposition who scrutinize their corresponding government ministers and prepare to assume those roles should they win an election.
Political Dissent: This term refers to any expression or action that opposes or challenges existing governmental policies or authority.
