Nepotism is the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.
Imagine you're playing a game of soccer and the coach always picks his son as the team captain, regardless of his skills. That's nepotism in action!
Patronage: The support given by a patron (a person who gives financial or other support to a person, organization, cause, or activity).
Favoritism: The practice of giving unfair preferential treatment to one person or group at the expense of another.
Cronyism: The appointment of friends and associates to positions of authority, without proper regard to their qualifications.
