James I

Definition

James I was King of Scotland (as James VI) before becoming King of England and Ireland in 1603. He ruled both kingdoms until his death in 1625. His reign is known for struggles with Parliament and religious conflicts.

Analogy

Imagine being captain of two different sports teams at once - say, basketball and soccer. You have to understand and manage two sets of rules, players, and strategies. That's similar to what James I had to do when he became king of both Scotland and England.
