Genetic Engineering

Definition

The deliberate modification of the characteristics of an organism by manipulating its genetic material. This could involve adding, removing, or altering genes within an individual's cells.

Analogy

Genetic engineering is like being able to edit the script of life written in DNA language. It’s like using a word processor's 'find and replace' function on specific parts of that script to change certain outcomes - such as physical traits or disease susceptibility.
