The French Revolution was a period of radical political and societal change in France from 1789 until 1799 which led to the collapse of Bourbon monarchy and rise of radical political factions.
Imagine your school deciding to completely change its rules because students felt they were unfair - this would cause chaos at first but could lead to better conditions later on. That's similar to what happened during the French Revolution when people rose against an unjust system.
