Divine Right

Definition

Divine right refers to the belief that a ruler has absolute power because it is granted to them by a higher authority, usually God or the gods. This belief was commonly held by monarchs in Europe during the medieval and early modern periods.

Analogy

Imagine you have a friend who thinks they are always right because they believe they were born with special knowledge from a higher power. They never question their decisions and act like they have absolute power over everything.
