Compromise of 1867

Definition

The Compromise of 1867, also known as Ausgleich, established the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary. It gave Hungarians more autonomy while maintaining Franz Joseph I as ruler over both regions.

Analogy

Consider this compromise like two siblings who decide to share their toys instead of fighting over them all the time. They're still under one household (the monarchy) but have agreed on how they'll play separately yet together.
