Civic literacy refers to the knowledge and skills needed to participate effectively in civic life, including understanding governmental processes and contemporary social issues.

Analogy

Consider civic literacy as your GPS when navigating through society. Just like how you need a GPS to understand roads and directions while driving, you need civic literacy to understand how society works and your role within it.
