S Curve

Definition

The S curve is a graphical representation of population growth that shows how populations initially grow slowly, then rapidly accelerate, before eventually leveling off due to limiting factors such as resource availability or competition.

Analogy

Think about starting a new video game. At first, you progress slowly as you learn the rules and gather resources. Then, you start gaining momentum and advancing quickly until you reach higher levels where it becomes harder to progress at the same rate. Eventually, your progress plateaus as you encounter challenges that limit your advancement.
