Definition
Phthalates are a group of chemicals commonly used as plasticizers to make plastics more flexible and durable. They can be found in various products such as toys, food packaging, cosmetics, and medical devices.
Analogy
Think of phthalates like the "stretchy pants" for plastics. Just like how stretchy pants allow flexibility and movement, phthalates give plastics the ability to bend and twist without breaking.
