Ecocentric
Definition
Ecocentric refers to an ecological perspective that emphasizes interconnectedness between all components of an ecosystem. It recognizes the intrinsic value of nature and aims to maintain the health and balance of ecosystems.
Analogy
Picture a delicate web where each strand is connected to another. If one strand is damaged or removed, it affects the entire structure. Similarly, ecocentrism recognizes that every organism and element in an ecosystem plays a vital role in its overall functioning.
