Decomposers are organisms that break down dead organic matter into simpler substances, such as nutrients, through the process of decomposition.
Think of decomposers as nature's recyclers. Just like how a recycling plant breaks down old materials to create new ones, decomposers break down dead plants and animals to release nutrients back into the ecosystem.
Detritivores: Organisms that feed on dead organic matter, such as earthworms and vultures.
Saprophytes: Plants or fungi that obtain nutrients by decomposing dead organic matter.
Nutrient Cycling: The movement and exchange of nutrients between living organisms and their environment through processes like decomposition.
