Definition

The conservation status refers to the assessment of how threatened a species is with extinction. It takes into account factors such as population size, geographic range, and habitat quality.

Analogy

Think of the conservation status like a traffic light for species. Green means the species is doing well and not at risk, yellow means it's becoming more vulnerable, and red means it's in danger of disappearing.
