Carbon Monoxide (CO)

Definition

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is produced by the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. It can be harmful to humans and animals because it binds to hemoglobin in our blood, reducing its ability to carry oxygen.

Analogy

Imagine you're at a party and there's only one entrance and exit. If someone blocks the doorway, preventing others from entering or leaving, it creates chaos inside. Similarly, carbon monoxide blocks the way for oxygen in our bloodstream, causing havoc in our bodies.
