A strong base is a substance that can completely dissociate in water, producing hydroxide ions (OH-) and the corresponding cations.
Think of a strong base like a professional basketball player. When they get on the court (or in water), they don't hold back - they give it their all (completely dissociate) and score points (produce OH- ions).
Base: A substance that can accept protons or donate a pair of valence electrons.
Alkali: A type of base that dissolves in water to form hydroxide ions.
Dissociation: The process where compounds split into smaller particles such as atoms, ions, or radicals, usually in a reversible manner.
