A proton is a subatomic particle found in the nucleus of every atom. It carries a positive electric charge.
Think of protons as the bossy older siblings in the family of particles that make up an atom. They live in the house (nucleus), and their positive attitude (charge) influences everything around them.
Neutron: This is another subatomic particle found in the atomic nucleus, but it has no electric charge. Like the middle child who often goes unnoticed because they don't cause any trouble!
Electron: These are negatively charged subatomic particles that orbit around the nucleus. Imagine them as rebellious teenagers who prefer hanging out at the outskirts rather than staying home.
Atomic Number: This is equal to the number of protons in an atom, serving as its unique identity. Just like your social security number uniquely identifies you!
