Enthalpy of Reaction

Definition

The total energy change that happens during a chemical reaction, measured at constant pressure.

Analogy

Think about baking cookies. You start with raw ingredients (reactants) and end up with delicious cookies (products). The difference in energy between your starting ingredients and your finished cookies is like the enthalpy of reaction.
