Electrical Energy

Definition

Electrical energy is energy that comes from moving electric charges. It can be produced through various means such as chemical reactions, like redox reactions, which generate an electric current.

Analogy

Think of electrical energy as similar to charging your phone using a power bank. The power bank stores electrical energy, just like chemical compounds store potential electrical energy in redox reactions. When you connect your phone to charge it, electricity flows from the power bank to your phone to provide it with energy.

Related terms

Electrochemical Cell: An electrochemical cell is a device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through redox reactions.

Battery: A battery consists of multiple electrochemical cells connected together and provides portable electrical energy.

Galvanic Cell: Also known as a voltaic cell, this type of electrochemical cell uses spontaneous redox reactions to produce electrical energy.
