Conjugate Acids

Definition

Conjugate acids are formed when base gains proton(s) (H+ ions).

Analogy

Think of a conjugate acid as a sponge that has soaked up water. The sponge is like the base, and the water it soaks up represents the H+ ions. After soaking up the water, we now have a wet sponge - this is our conjugate acid!
