Bond order is the number of chemical bonds between a pair of atoms. It indicates the stability of a bond.
Think of bond order like the number of hands you're holding with someone. If you're just holding one hand (single bond), it's easier to let go than if you're holding both hands (double bond) or even linking arms (triple bond). The more connections, the stronger and more stable your hold is.
Single Bond: A single covalent bond that occurs when one pair of electrons is shared between two atoms.
Double Bond: A double covalent bond involves two shared pairs of electrons between two atoms.
Triple Bond: A triple covalent bond involves three shared pairs of electrons between two atoms.
What bond order is this? Smallest bond energy
What bond order is this? Middle bond length
What bond order is this? Six electrons involved in bond
What bond order is this? Two electrons involved in bond
What bond order is this? Largest bond energy
What bond order is this? Four electrons involved in bond
What bond order is this? Shortest bond length
What is bond order?
How can you figure out the bond order?
